Architecture Illustration

Our final project in Illustrator was to create an architecture illustration. The building I chose is called the Stanwell Park House. It is designed by Casey Brown Architecture. Their team is made up of eight members who all work together to create contemporary and organic architectural structures. The ideas for their buildings are inspired by climate, topography, and lifestyle. This particular building is in influenced by its topography and the modern Australian beach side lifestyle. It is located south of Sydney and provides both north and east views over Stanwell Park Beach and the Pacific Ocean. It consists of three pavilions made of local stone, timber, and copper and follows an overall open plan. The materials are chosen to withstand the beach side location and to visually recede into the landscape. The many levels of the building are a response to the steep site and although the plan is fairly open, it still provides privacy. The Stanwell Park House is designed for both entertaining and family holidays. I chose the Stanwell Park House because I really like the style of the building and it has several different architectural elements that make it interesting to look at. I like how this turned out. I spent a lot of time working on it, especially modifying all the landscape so it would look more like the ones in the photograph and I also had to create all the stones for the stone walls so they looked authentic. I took colors from the original image and used gradients to create shadows and different lighting effects.
